PXE Manager – Part II

PXE Manager Part II – PXE Agent Installation

Follow the following instructions to install the PXE Agent, perform the same steps at both PXE Agent servers.

Prerequisites:

Required
  • Install two Windows 2008 Virtual machine, one in each datacenter (same VLAN as the ESXi hosts)

  • Ensure you have the correct version of PXE Manager.
Required
  • Ensure you have Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable (x64) and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 has been installed
  1. Logon to the Windows 2008 server you are intending to install the PXE Manager, with a account that has administrative privileges.
  2. Locate the vpxe-x64-<version>.exe and double click it to launch the installation, click “Run”

  3. Click “Next”

  1. Click “Next” at the welcome screen

  2. Click to select the “I Agree” radio button and click “Next”

  3. Choose the installation older and click “Next”

  4. Click “Next” to start the installation

  5. Click “Next”

  6. Click “Close”

  7. Use the following table to answers the different questions during the configuration of the PXE Manager:

PXE Manager URL https://<FQDN of the PXE Manager>:8733
Install Microsoft Server for NFS Y
Configure Microsoft Server for NFS Y

  1. There is an error in the last point. The PXE Manager URL has to be https…, otherwise the agent will not appear in the vCenter plugin. The log generates a load of protocol errors.
